Variety: The Spice of Life

Okay, okay, so we’re 20 days into 2020, and let me take a big fat guess that you’re already super disenchanted with your New Year’s health and wellness resolution plan. Your DIEt (this word gives me the heebie jeebies) stinks and you’re B-O-R-E-D of the sets and reps. The treadmill has turned your dreams into nightmares. Ugh! But you have goals! You can’t give up now! FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION! At least that’s what G.I. Jane said. Welll, have I got a solution for you, and it doesn’t require much.

Look, all you need is a dash of Variety! Super quick story- a dear pal and I were discussing how it is that some twenty-four hour party people have the ability to be out all hour of the night, guzzle high-calorie cocktails AND still manage to not gain the poundage. How is this possible? Firstly, I must say that this type of lifestyle is NOT sustainable and I do not recommend it. Okay, secondly and to my point, they D-A-N-C-E! According to this article are several benefits to dancing, including the decrease of blood pressure and it strengthens the bones! This article has sourced information from Harvard Health Publications which discusses how the number of caloric expenditure increases with weight in just 30 minutes (of moderate-vigorous activity)! So, the more you weigh, the more calories you’ll burn if you dance continuously for 30 minutes! This is a short read, and I encourage you to give it a looksy!

Now, I’m not a drinker of the alcoholic beverage variety. However, I sure do gulp my fair share of Kool Aid (Red Flavor), and I can attest to the accuracy of this article! I have at least one super fast dance party by myself each day. I put on my Super Fast Dance Party playlist of favorite tunes that get my body movin’ and groovin,’ and by the end of the set list, I just know I’ve reached my target heart rate Big fat surprise, I’ll even grab my hoopalooop (aka hula hoop) and have a good old-fashioned hoop dance session for 20 minutes, and holy schmoli I’m pooped after that! The secret is to play to music that inspires you! What kind of music do you like to dance to?

Therefore, change-up your fitness routine, in this case, cardio routine. If you’re self-conscious about dancing, try dancing in a space with no mirrors and dance like a silly willy kid! Who cares what you look like anyway?! If you are curious about using a hoopaloop, but you don’t know how to get started, please send me a message, and I’d be more than overjoyed to help you! Learn some sick moves on your own in a personal training session or get some friends together for a hoop class. Don’t fret- your 2020 goals can still be attained! You just gotta be SMART about them. I love you, and thanks a gazillion for reading this post.

  1. Welp, that made me dig out my PERFECT hula hoop and park it on the dance floor. And as we all know: NO PARKING ON THE DANCE FLOOR. Thanks for the push!
